THE PRINT HOUSE
Red Design Group worked hard to develop this concept to have the grandeur of a
european club lounge, sectioned into areas that will appeal to a range of
customers, their moods, and requirements.
Once again RED Design Group teamed up with Paul Mathis to create The Print House hospitality
concept. This site is located on the cusp of Melbourne's inner
central business district. The building holds much historical value, it is Heritage listed as well as home to the worlds
unique and historical hydraulic lift. Upstairs at A’Beckett Street will be The Print House.
The name was secured due to the history of the building dating back to over 100 years as Abasis
Printing.
This was a very personal project for Paul Mathis,
where selections of his own found objects were
incorporated into the concept design. In keeping
with the former life of the building we referenced
various classic works of literature, Somerset
Maun’s, suddenly last summer, Daphne Du Maurier
‘The Birds’.
An eclectic range of furniture and
monuments, with mosaic tiles and motif carpet were
selected and helped define the look and feel Paul
Mathis was trying to achieve.
The space was designed to be quite versatile so
it can be transformed into a private dining room to
cater for functions, wine appreciation seminars and
general corporate functions. The design was to
house guests that would prefer to eat and drink in
more opulent surroundings, with a large marble bar
and a beautiful range of branding and merchandise
to follow.
